Honora Jewelry Company History

The history of Honora Jewelry Company began in 1946 founded by Stanley Schechter (1924-2000) and Jerome J Grossbardt (1923-2012). Noteworthy, Jerome J Grossbardt named the company in honor of his wife Honora Grossbardt. Stanley Schechter and Jerome J Grossbardt worked together for less than two decades, and then each of them created their own business.
The company manufactured fine jewelry with the use of gold and precious stones – diamonds, sapphires, rubies, black and white cultured pearls. In 1956 Honora Jewelry Co. opened its division Photo Sculpture, Inc., on manufacture of book lockets with reproduction of portraits in 14 K gold frames.

Located in the Southern District of New York at 42 West 48th Street, the Honora company has changed names several times. Thus, in 1961 it was Honora Industries Inc., then Honora Ltd., and finally, in 1969 – Brannkey Inc. Registered at 18 East 48th Street, New York, Brannkey Inc was headed by Joel Schechter, Stanley Schechter’s son. The company continued manufacturing Honora jewelry, but since 1995 they focused only on pearls.
In 1986 Jerome J Grossbardt, in partnership with Lawrence Asch founded their own jewelry company Asch Grossbardt Inc. The same year Jerome’s son Eric joined the business, and after the death of his father in 2012, he became the sole owner of Asch Grossbardt Inc.
